Two Defense Attorneys Accused of Witness Influencing

Baltimore Sun, August 9, 2008:

Yesterday, a judge ruled that a jury can hear testimony from a prosecution witness who said defense attorney Leslie Stein urged him to change his story, telling him that "people don't last long when they snitch."

Baltimore Circuit Judge Timothy Doory said he didn't necessarily believe the witness, Christopher Meadows, over the 35-year veteran attorney, who denied the allegations. But the judge thought "there was enough there" that the jury in the murder trial of Stein's client, Bryant Williams, 24, should be allowed to decide who's telling the truth.

Republic of T: Taking Conservatives At Their Word Regarding Deathwishes against Liberals

Terrance Heath of the Republic of T does a nice job of outlining the hate language used by some specific conservative media personalities and how such comments may have contributed to a recent church killing. As blogged recently here, a man in Tennessee killed two and wounded six more during a children's service at a liberal, pro-gay Unitarian church near Knoxville.

Some highlights:

Vester: You say you’d rather not talk to liberals at all?

(Ann) Coulter: I think a baseball bat is the most effective way these days.

Gun Control - a personal take

Why I Just Love Islamic Civilization

The London Guardian/Observer, May 11, 2008 (HAT TIP 3 Quarks Daily):

For Abdel-Qader Ali there is only one regret: that he did not kill his daughter at birth. 'If I had realised then what she would become, I would have killed her the instant her mother delivered her,' he said with no trace of remorse.
