Will we still call it the White House?

http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6081

I love Republicans. Really. They are perfect in their awfulness so reliably often.

Dream No More Deferred?

I have held off blogging on substance for a while. So much of my life seems claimed and counter-claimed by opposing forces looking to jam my time, steal it, scrape it, BS me out of an hour here and a half hour there for no good reason. I remain impatient that my apartment cannot easily accommodate my alternative lifestyle, to wit: present Daddy two days a week, quasi-half-assed bachelor nobody for the other twelve. But at least I am keeping it clean, orderly and safe for the little fellows.

Change Gonna Come

Eyes on the Prize

40 years today, a white Southern political terrorist shot and killed Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis. The night before the day before he was killed, he predicted in perhaps his second most famous speech that he might be assassinated.

More Frightening Militant Black Nationalism from Barack Obama's Church

I can just see this dangerous militant selling bean pies for Louis Farrakhan at the corner of Wabash and Northern Parkway in Baltimore.

Archie Bunker's Congresswoman Speaks

Speak it, Josh:

Ferraro is a "media assassin" who took the wrong caliber bullets to the "hit." She needs to call Bill Donohue at the Catholic League, have him teach a tutorial on Media Assassin 101. But in a way, she has reminded ethnically identified "white" Democratic voters in Pennsylvania to show up like they did in neighboring Ohio and vote down the big. bad, unfair Negro. Hillary should ship a bottle case of gin to the good servant done well.

RedState: Antisemitism and "A Baseline for Bigotry"

I am too exhausted after a long sick day of posting to go through the whole story, but HAT TIP to Moe Lane at RedState for his piece on explicit antisemitism and racism in a Memphis Congressional race, this time a "Black Christian" minister calling for the ouster of Congressman Steve Cohen on the alleged ground that he and "the Jews" "hate Jesus." Offensive flier here, WaPo article here. I liked Moe's take but am just too tired to manufacture the will to march on.

Shark-Fu: A Tribute to Fannie Lou Hamer

Shark-Fu of Angry Black Bitch, "Because of history already made", February 3, 2008:

In this historic election year it is easy to forget that extraordinary ordinary people have been making political history for years. But this political junkie is reminded of the past as I consider the history about to be made when either a woman or a man of color accept the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

Oliver Willis on the Presidential Electoral Map

Oliver Willis, January 26, 2008:

I've pushed the idea for some time that in addition to the Democratic advantage we're likely to see this fall thanks to the Bush era, there is also an untapped black vote that will materialize if Sen. Obama is the nominee. Also, as 2006 has shown us, thanks to the incumbent party's zeal for immigrant-bashing, the hispanic numbers from 2004 are likely to show up as a historic anomaly in favor of the Republicans. So, consider the following swing states in 2004 that went for Bush:

Iowa, Bush, 0.67%
New Mexico, Bush, 0.79%
Ohio, Bush, 2.11%
Nevada, Bush, 2.59%
Colorado, Bush, 4.67%

Bill Clinton is Not the "First Black President" Any More

Observers of U.S. politics may recall references to President Bill Clinton as the "first Black President," though perhaps not the origins of those references. My impression is that Princeton's Professor Toni Morrison may not have been the first to describe him that way in print but this paragraph from a 1998 New Yorker article is often cited as the source of the reference:

African-American men seemed to understand it right away. Years ago, in the middle of the Whitewater investigation, one heard the first murmurs: white skin notwithstanding, this is our first black President. Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children's lifetime.

Who Let The Dogs Out?

Somebody needs to tell Casper the Well-Coiffed Ghost that American white people are supposed to be 2-3 years behind in their understanding of Black culture, not a full decade out of touch. This blog loves old-school rap - and plays it at any excuse - but we do in fact know that it's an antique collectors' item.

Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism and the Abolition of the "White Race"

Soccer Dad - or perhaps his frequent guest blogger Daled Amos, a little ambiguous - has a post up about Jonah Goldberg's recently published Liberal Fascism now out at bookstores. My point here is not to review the book but to react to some Goldberg's quotes cited by Soccer Dad/Daled Amos.

Acceptably Black?

Shark-Fu, aka Angry Black Bitch, is probably not "acceptably black."

But her shirts appear to be so:
