New Dad City

It has been a whirlwind of changes, of adjustments, to my new life down here in DC. Some changes have been most welcome, such as the reduction of a 120 minute commute one-way down to 35 minutes, half of that on foot. Every evening I seem to have more things to go buy to get this apartment modestly ready: office supplies, dish drain for the kitchen, storage for stuff for Sam and Noah, cheap vacuum cleaner, etc. Trying to combine trips to keep gas consumption down. I will convert over to shopping by Metro once I have my grocery shopping patterns down pat but may "subscribe" to some routine non-produce groceries if delivery is cost-efficient in bulk.
My boys have had two weekend visits over here and they have gone quite well. Sam likes "Daddy's House" and I am teaching him to appreciate Daddy's "big screen TV," the absolute cheapest 13" TV set sold in metropolitan Washington. Noah plays cheerfully when he is not expressing his lamentation at the pain of the world; too bad his linguistic skills are not developed enough to allow him to blog.
There are times when I feel down in the dumps about my circumstances. Perhaps I have "cause." No, in fact I don't. HAT TIP to Soccer Dad and my heartfelt condolences to Mr. Elie Rosenfeld and his family in their continued grief.
I may be going out of town this weekend on a cheap bus ticket to New York. If so, you may see a few posts from Coney Island or the like. No guarantees.
