In the first draft of this piece, I linked to a Sitemeter feed of someone who had run an online search about my personal (as opposed to professional) life and then entered my site in pursuit of her research project. Out of editorial discretion, I decided to strike the specific link to that search's Sitemeter "footprint". However, you may take a look at the Sitemeter feeds yourself generally if you like for Crablaw by clicking on the green Sitemeter icon to the left OR clicking here. Attila of Pillage Idiot is a fan of posting up images of the occasionally bizarre Sitemeter feeds that lead into his site, and I see nothing wrong with doing so unless you have executed some sort of agreement not to do so. If you enter a website, the fact of your machine's and provider's entry into that site is not ipso facto private. If it's okay to rummage through my site or the whole internet looking for details about my (anticipated) divorce, then it's okay for this site to identify the fact of your rummaging. But out of discretion, I am showing a little mercy upon the less net-savvy sleuths.
