Mirtinesh, "Mezmur"

I do not have a translation of the lyrics. The lead singer is a popular Ethiopian Orthodox singer named "Mirtinesh" and the song is entitled "Mezmur" or "Mezimur" in different translations transcription of Amharic, a word meaning "worship." Amharic is a Semitic language but I do not know a common root word in e.g. Hebrew for "Mezmur." The Hebrew word "zemirot" meaning "songs" may share a root (this is pure speculation, NOT knowledge) as do the words "[Tel] Aviv" and "[Addis] Ababa", meaning "new".

Frequent readers may have noticed a proliferation of material from the Orthodox Christian world on this site: Coptic, Byzantine, etc. music, discussions of the Hagia Sophia, etc. I have been amazed at how much culture we do not have in the U.S., or at least have no idea how to access. So I like to find neat things and post them here, especially cultural artifacts outside of a typical Westerner's quotidian path. Today, we don't have the tyranny of distance keeping us away as even 20 years ago; if you want to shoot a video and throw it onto YouTube, an iPhone user can view it in any hotspot easily in her hand. So please send me new neat stuff, new meaning new to me/us, etc., with my thanks.
