The Jobs Feed

Hello! The Crab's List Jobs Feeds have moved to their new home at responsivedocuments.com/jobsfeed!

Subscribe to the RSS of the National Enquirer

If you want to follow the stories coming out from Alaska about Governor Palin - if that's what you want - you should link to the National Enquirer's RSS feed.

Yeah, I know. The unthinkable declasse move, the equivalent of putting your Beamer on blocks in your front yard, or offering your client an RC Cola. Well, I don't own a BMW or a yard, and I intend to stay on top of these stories. The National Enquirer, within its white-trash bailiwick, does a better job of sourcing its stories than do most newspapers, in part out of extremely real fear of getting sued daily and needing to stay under the 1st Amendment press reporting privileges.

Meta/Personal: The Crab Finds a New Home

The past seven days of my life have been oriented around the impending family adjustments and my residential relocation to the District of Columbia. Finding an apartment has been a serious pain in the neck. Happily, problem solved.

New Arrival to the Crab

I just got an iPhone, and am happy with my purchase. Had been eyeing it for a number of months, maybe over a year. It replaces a bulky camera (which I did not own and would have bought), BlackBerry (which I own and will sell in recoupment) and iPod (which I also own and will sell.) A picture of my little fellow Noah (2, almost 3) is above. The monthly fees are actually better than what I had for a less extensive contract now expired with Verizon and Sunday and the service has been great. The email service looks great on the phone and is approximately as efficient as that of the BlackBerry, and the internet service is great.

Live from Donna Edwards' Headquarters Rockville (MD-4)

I am at the Rockville headquarters of the Donna Edwards campaign. Actually 100 yards away, getting my own coffee at a Caribou so as not to take what's reserved for the workers who worked in the icy mess. It is cold, wet, icy and miserable, and so am I. Took me an hour to get here from Silver Spring. I am also sick and exhausted, coming down with my annual obnoxious chest cold, it would appear.

The mood here is lightly busy, not too much to report. Since the Board of Elections extended poll hours to 9:30 PM due presumably to the weather, we don't know anything locally. Some nice people, a lot of very nice young people, a few activists and professionals from the liberal advocacy community. And if both the weather and my chest weren't so miserable I could enjoy myself.

A personal request

If you want to know something about my life, including something quite personal, just ask. I might discuss it, or I might not. Odds are, if I know you personally, I will answer. If I discuss a topic here on the site, it means that I am generally open to answering questions about it in the unlikely event that you find my personal life fascinating (I don't find it fascinating, except for the growth and happiness of my two sons.) You may use this form, or call me by searching Godfrey here. I don't want to get bombarded by Nigerian 419 telescammers so I won't list the number but it's not a secret; every licensed lawyer in MD has to have a phone number of record.

Law Job Announcements February 5, 2008

Two job announcements from the "Crab's List Mafia."

Belarusian Newspaper Makes Endorsements for U.S. Presidency

"Belaruskija Naviny", February 1, 2008:

Minsk (BIA) 1 February, 2008-- In America, there are not strong leaders like Aleksandr Grigorevich Lukashenko, who come into power, and stay in the power. The only president in American history to have held on his power more than two terms was Franklin Roosevelt. And he was cripple! He stayed long because of war-time situation, not strength.

Shark-Fu: A Tribute to Fannie Lou Hamer

Shark-Fu of Angry Black Bitch, "Because of history already made", February 3, 2008:

In this historic election year it is easy to forget that extraordinary ordinary people have been making political history for years. But this political junkie is reminded of the past as I consider the history about to be made when either a woman or a man of color accept the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

How to Advocate Effectively for Same-Sex Marriage

Please cut, paste, edit as appropriate and distribute:

Dear Friends,

This is the last political spam you will ever get from me. Some of you are getting this because the subject matter of this bill might be of interest to you either here in Maryland or out-of-state. Some of you may have family, in-laws or friends here. A few of you have spammed me in the past yourselves;-) .

The issue of same-sex marriage directly affects my friends and members of my family. I don't want the government to treat [my cousin, the good men in my own wedding party, my long-time friends, fill in the blank], like second class citizens.

Who Let The Dogs Out?

Somebody needs to tell Casper the Well-Coiffed Ghost that American white people are supposed to be 2-3 years behind in their understanding of Black culture, not a full decade out of touch. This blog loves old-school rap - and plays it at any excuse - but we do in fact know that it's an antique collectors' item.
