I had a brief but very interesting conversatiuon early this afternoon with Mitch, the de facto campaign manager for the Donna Edwards for Congress campaign.

Per Mitch, there will be a rally at the Montgomery County Board of Elections for the Edwards Campaign on Monday September 18, 2006 at 9:30 to coincide with the counting of the large number of uncounted Montgomery County ballots of all sorts for Edwards and all candidates running within that county.

While professional employment will preclude my own attendance, I alert one and all to that event. There may be a lot of information to learn and a lot of contacts on this issue at the rally beyond the emotional charge typical of such events.

The Edwards campaign is gearing up for the possibility of legal challenges. While I am not qualified to lead a ballot challenge professionally, I would be happy to volunteer in a minor role as an attorney serving as second or third chair to the extent of my available time behind an experienced election attorney. To my attorney readers: if you have a background in election law or constitutional law or just want to take part in the mother of all public interest cases, to meet your pro bono obligation and, frankly, to take part in Maryland history, email me.
